Project Brief

Self-guide app UI for Museums/Aquariums/Zoos
Project Overview

To design an interactive app UI for use as a self-service tour guide in one of the following settings:

• Museums
• Aquariums
• Zoos

The app itself will be designed in a way that uses technology to sense when the user is near an exhibition, to which the information on their app will change accordingly to suit. App to include GPS-like navigation so that the user can see exactly where they are in the museum. Full app integrated experience from start to finish.

Possible options of local attractions to use for brief:

• Tullie House Museum (Carlisle)
• Carlisle Castle (Carlisle)
• Lake District Coast Aquarium (Maryport)
• Lakes Aquarium (Ulverston)
• Northumberland Zoo (Morpeth)
• Blackpool Zoo (Blackpool)

Target Audience

Primary audiences:

• Venue visitors, aka tourists, families and students

Secondary audiences:

• Schools
• Educators
• Curators

Deliverables

App UI/UX mockup for self tour guiding
Promotional material
Infographics for using the App (Posters & Leaflets/Business cards)

Specification

iOS app mocked up to work across different iPhone screen sizes:

• 6.1inch: 390x844 @460ppi (1170x2532 at 3x scale)
• 6.3inch: 402x874 @460ppi (1206x2622 at 3x scale)
• 6.9inch: 440x956 @460ppi (1320x2868 at 3x scale)

Design to incorporate the UI design of modern aesthetic stylings where possible, whilst tying in with venue's brand identity.

Marketing materials in poster format (A3 QR code poster to download app/access web app) and quick how to A5 leaflets.

Milestones
